Reaching people with ICT: T-Systems presented solutions like the church port and church connection at "Church Day" at CeBIT.
The Catholic and Evangelical churches in Germany have around 25 million members each. The 22 state Evangelical churches and 27 Catholic dioceses are increasingly relying on IT to communicate with their members. At the CeBIT "Church Day," T-Systems presented the vast possibilities of ICT. Representatives from the Evangelical and Catholic Church were curious. "What can ICT do for our church?" "How can it make life easier for our employees?"
Connecting congregations with ICT
The T-Systems team showed church representatives solutions like the church port, which connects congregations with institutions such as kindergartens and other church establishments on the church Intranet. That makes it easier to share information within the congregation. The church connection offers a flat rate for all German fixed-line and mobile networks. Components like a payroll system, church reporting, real estate management software and other applications can be added. That means less administrative hassle for staff. Since churches send very sensitive data via the network, the church port uses secure access via a VPN, meeting high requirements on confidentiality and data privacy.
